here, just another run-of-the-mill naturopathy absurd duck-science [you know the noise they make!] position:
001. on the sanp.ca page "Member List" [2019 archived]:
001.a. we're told:
"licensed naturopathic doctors in Saskatchewan have achieved the following training: pre-medicine university courses in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics and psychology; 4,100 hours of academic and clinical training and a diploma from a four-year full-time accredited naturopathic medical college including one year clinical internship; successful completion of North American licensing exams including basic sciences, (anatomy, biochmistry, microbiology, immunology, physiology and pathology), as well as clinical sciences (physical and clinical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis and diagnostic imaging, pharmacology, emergency medicine, clinical nutrition, physical medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture and homeopathy); successful completion of licensing exams including practical exams, (physical and clinical diagnosis, acupuncture and manipulation), as well as Saskatchewan jurisprudence; annual continuing medical education credits after obtaining a license from the Saskatchewan Association of Naturopathic Physicians; for information on the requirements of becoming a member of the SANP, please contact the registrar [...]";
so, a science subset homeopathy claim, minimally. Which is quite FALSE. Like science subset magic beans. Therein, licensed falsehood.
001.b. and then listed below this position statement are SANP members:
"Amell Dr Douglas [of] Moose Jaw Naturopathic Clinic [...] Bablad Dr Jonathan [of] Head to Heal Center for Naturopathic Medicine & the Bowen Technique [...] Bailey Dr Kent [of] Axiom Health Services [...] Barmby Dr Alana [of] Saskatoon Naturopathic Health & Wellness Center [...] Bridgman Dr Toby [...of] drtobybridgmannd.com [...] Chiasson Dr Lynn [of] Main Street Naturopathic Clinic [...] Cheah Dr Katherine [...of] katcheah@accesscomm.ca [...] DiCicco Dr Vanessa [of] A Balanced Approach [...] Ferguson Dr Leshia [of] Swift Current, SK [...] Fleury Dr Jacqui [of] True Potential Health Services [...] Fyffe Dr Kathleen [of] Argyle Natural Health Center [...] Geis Dr Marika [of] daziran.ca [...] Gleisberg Dr Christian [of] Gleisberg's Naturopathic Clinic [...] Gleisberg Dr Peter [of] Gleisberg's Natural Health Clinic [...] Gokavi Dr Tanya [of] drtanya@gokaviacupuncture.com [...] Hiebert Dr Amy [of] True Potential Health Services [...] Mahan Dr Ed [of] Saskatoon [...] Mrazek Dr T.R. so many passengers on the train! Next stop: Cloud Cuckoo Land.
002. SANP also states in "Communicating About Immunization" [2019 archived]:
"naturopathic doctors are a resource for patients and are obligated to maintain up-to-date scientific knowledge so that they may assist patients in making healthcare decisions [...] naturopathic doctors must not [...] feature 'anti-vaccination' and/or 'anti-immunization' content in their advertising and/or marketing materials, including websites and social media platforms, including but not limited to: articles from scientific, peer-reviewed publications that have been discredited since the time of publication";
so HOW oh HOW does one maintain sanity in this scheme? You can't represent homeopathy as science if you are staying scientifically up to date. It is discredited.
003. and just in case I get criticized for being unfair with a one-page anomaly, there's the long-standing AANP page "What is a Naturopathic Doctor?" [2019 archived] that tells us the ND education is a:
"well-rounded scientific medical education [...of] the same biomedical and diagnostic sciences as MDs and osteopathic doctors (DOs) [...that includes] stimulate the self-healing mechanisms. NDs use therapies to stimulate and strengthen the body’s innate self-healing and curative abilities. These therapies include modalities such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicines, constitutional hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and acupuncture";
really. The same science that is the not science. And coded vitalism.
