Naturopathic Cardiology: Heart Rate Variability Vital Force Fakery in NDNR 2014

here, I briefly quote from a 2014-10 piece in Naturopathic Doctor News and Review [see 001., below]; then, I briefly comment [see 002., below]; and finally, I visit the practice of the NMD co-author [see 003., below]:

001. NMD Karimov and DC Kessler write in "Heart Rate Variability [...] Part 3" (NDNR 2014-10; archived here 2014) [they SELL this equipment and it can supposedly measure THE IMAGINARY merdians for which it is ODDLY "highly accurate" and it's used to measure "efficacy" ]:

001.a. the language of science that's used:

"evolutionary biology", "a quantitative view of our adaptive capabilities", "homeostasis", "pH", "autonomic nervous system".

001.b. the language of the science-ejected that's used [there are 14 instances of "vital force" used, ISYN]:

"vital force measurement [...] vital force (50-500) [...] the vital force is calculated by analyzing certain relationships between P-R, R-R, R-T, P-T intervals on the EKG [...] because vital force maintains the balance of metabolic reactions, a low vital force can result in either catabolic reactions dominating metabolism (and premature aging), or the progression of anabolic reactions (and eventual tumor growth) [...] the science in this field is constantly evolving, and we look forward to keeping you informed."

002. commentary:

what?  Science?  Isn't this a FAKE measurement of a so-called "force"?  A force would, if it exists, be directly measured as-itself.  Here, a RELATIONSHIP is calculated and that is INDIRECT.  Saying that a vital force here is being measured is as accurate as saying that when I count the dandelions on my front yard, I know how many fairies are under my garden.

003. the practice of NMD Karimov [NMD Karimov is an NCNM graduate, which is an "anything is science, no distinctions allowed" kind of academic environment] states in "Determine the Effectiveness of Your Treatments and Track the Direction Graphically of Multiple Regulatory Systems Over Time":

"the HQ allows you to assess your patient’s total health through indices of the autonomic nervous system, neuro-hormonal system, psycho-emotional state, brain electrical activity, meridians, chakras in relation to the endocrine system [...] what I like to look at is the vital force reading that basically tells me about the patient’s vitality. If it is low I may not want to detox this patient."

ah, yes.  Because, in naturopathyland and kind, a scientific thing like brain electrical activity is the same thing / can be grouped as an equal to magic beans and unicorn tears.

there's a video of the device, here.
