001. at HufPo, Natalie Stechyson writes in "Naturopath Facing Controversy After Treating A Child With Rabid Dog Saliva" (2018-04-12):
"file this one under 'Yes, this is real.' A Victoria, B.C. naturopath [...] Dr. Anke Zimmermann [...] is facing a storm of online criticism after she posted an article claiming she treated a four-year-old boy's aggression and behavioural problems with a remedy made from rabid dog saliva [...writing] 'this four-year-old boy with sleep and behavioural problems, including aggression and violence towards school mates as well as hiding under tables and growling, improved dramatically with a remedy made from a rabid dog's saliva [...] Lyssinum 200CH, 2 pellets [...] the dog who bit
him may have recently been vaccinated with the rabies vaccine or the
dog bite in and of itself may have affected the boy with the rabies
miasm. Either is possible and the phenomenon is well-known in
homeopathy [...] the way I see it, he is coming back into a more human state from a slightly rabid dog state [...] Zimmermann and her treatment are both legit, according to the College of
Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia. 'Dr. Anke Zimmermann is
licensed to practise naturopathic medicine in B.C.,' Phillipa Stanaway,
Deputy Registrar, College of Naturopathic Physicians of British
Columbia, told HuffPost Canada in an email. 'Lyssinum is not excluded
from the pharmacopoeia for naturopathic doctors in B.C. Homeopathy,
which includes the use of substances such as lyssinum, is a traditional
modality with a long history in the naturopathic scope of practice; it
is still used by some naturopathic doctors today' [...]";
oh the delight and horrors of Naturopathyland. And actually, it's not merely that 'some naturopaths use homeopathy'. Homeopathy is mandated in their schools and school clinics, and their licensure exam falsely labels homeopathy a "clinical science." Because anything goes in Naturopathyland...
002. also, cbc.ca's Bethany Lindsay reports in "Top Health Official Contacting Health Canada Over Use of Remedy Made From Rabid Dog Saliva on 4-year-Old":
"provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said she will be writing to Health Canada to protest its approval of a treatment known as lyssinum after reading a blog post written by naturopath Anke Zimmermann of Victoria. Henry wasn't aware of the substance before reading Zimmermann's post, but said she has already expressed concerns to the federal government about the regulation of homeopathic products. 'II will be writing to Health Canada about this preparation again,' Henry told CBC News. 'There's no way I can understand why we would have anything that was meant to be saliva of a rabid dog approved for use in this country.' Henry said she had 'grave concerns' about those claims and was not aware of any scientific evidence to support them" [...] Timothy Caulfield, Canada research chair in health law and policy at the University of Alberta, described the Zimmermann's claims as 'scientifically absurd.' If this is a scientific profession, a fact-based profession, the regulators need to step up and try to control their members when they are saying things that are so patently absurd,' he told CBC News";
lack of scientific evidence and being absurd has NEVER stopped naturopathy!
