ND Lepisto at KKCO 11 News nbc11news.com: The Little Truth That Leads to Typical Falsehood and Opacity [in part]

here, hooking in patients for naturopaths by way of noncritical promotion pieces by credulous hosts:

001. at nbc11news.com in "Donating Blood Can Reduce Your Risk of Heart Attack or Stroke" (2019-11-08), we're told:

"[from the description] Dr. Christopher Lepisto from Grand Junction Naturopath joined us on KKCO 11 News at Noon to talk about the benefits of donating blood. He says not only does it help those in need of blood but also yourself. Donating thins your blood and immediately cuts your risk of heart attack or stroke. Dr. Lepisto says this is based on a 1990's study that tracked over 4000 people and their cardiac events. Those who donated blood regularly had a 45% reduced risk of heart attack and stroke compared to those who did not [...] to contact Dr. Lepisto visit his website at www.grandjunctionnaturopath.com or call at 970.250.4104 [...from the video, the ND states] well, it's fascinating how simple it is [...] donating blood cuts your risk of heart attack or stroke by 45% [...] it's just about thinning the blood [...] think about people that have hemochromatosis [...] they have to donate regularly to get those iron levels down [...] therapeutic phlebotomy [...] all though the idea is not very commonplace [...and he calls the mentioned study] a very good study [...] I need to credit one of my mentors [...] Dr. Johnathan Wright [who has an honorary ND...and then he gives his practice contact info.] grandjunctionnaturopath.com [...]";

nothing is ever as simple as one study.

002. at his practice, grandjunctionnaturopath.com:

we're told he's a Bastyr ND graduate in his bio., which is a certain kind of claim of "science-based";

we get coded vitalism [opacity] and the statement "today, as a naturopathic doctor I blend this ancient healing wisdom with modern scientific knowledge  to help you attain optimal health in mind, body and spirit [...]";

and the knowledge-blended is not the science-based, but Bastyr to this day claims 'science subset naturopathy subset vitalism, homeopathy, supernaturalism';

and there's admitted use of homeopathy;

003. so, overall, the truth that leads to falsehood:

003.a. roughly speaking:

there may be a reduction in kinds of stroke and kinds of heart attack, so that is mainly true [though one could argue there are hugely better things medicine has to prevent such and blood donation does not in any way compare so this is WHY the idea is not very commonplace.  If you are going to get people to DO things, get them to do the things that give them the most results for their efforts, not cumbersome while tiny in benefit];

003.b. so:

the channel presents the ND as a truth-teller, and they actively promote his site without any counterargument, where you find nonsense being purveyed like homeopathy which is quite false pharmacy, and so many other things that are not what they claim to be like disguised vitalism;

if only getting a clear answer was "simple".  I offer this clear simple answer: naturopathy is based upon science-ejected vitalism [and science-exterior supernaturalism] and employs such things as science-ejected homeopathy while the education falsely characterizes the whole shebang as science-based;

oh, and most journalism dealing with naturopathy sucks.
