here, some associations and justifications regarding the Naturocrit logo upgrade this 2025:
001. the logo is now:
[I'm not very artistic, particularly visually. I did this with Microsoft Visio in a similar manner to how the previous logo was done with some other flow-charter. It was then re-rendered through chatgtp.]
002. associations, justifications:
002.a. for scientific skepticism:
I defer to the long-standing Wikipedia definition which states in-part: "the examination of claims and theories that appear to be unscientific, rather than the routine discussions and challenges among scientists." Good enough. Extraordinary claims demanding extraordinary evidence, and all that!
002.b. for factuality and freedom:
As a 2024 review in The Guardian of Tim Snyder's "On Freedom" stated regarding the concepts of factuality and freedom:
"The foundation[s of freedom] is sovereignty [...and] unpredictability [...and] mobility [...which is] only possible with the freedom of factuality [as in] 'the grip on the world that allows us to challenge it' [as in scientific knowledge...] and finally solidarity [as] the recognition that these freedoms are not just for the privileged 0.1% but for everyone."
002.c. for naturalness fallacy:
I choose 'naturalness' as opposed to 'naturalistic' as an error in reasoning particularly in terms of medicine -- that inherently 'what is natural is what is good' as healthcare is a fallacy. Lot's of details at the Wikipedia page and I spent a podcast episode 12 years ago on it. This is not be be confused with the naturalism of methodological naturalism.
002.d. for deceit and sectarian capture:
Of course, naturopathy operationally and its continuing institutionalization -- false science labels, false 'not belief' labels, opaque vitalism. For 'capture', I'm particularly influenced by the observations of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
