Deceptively Simplistic Representations of Naturopathy: AP via WABI.tv 5

here, a lazy / b.s. characterization of naturopathy by the Associated Press:

001. in "Maine Naturopaths Rally Behind Bill To Guarantee Insurance" (2017-04-19)[2017 archived] the AP tells us::

"naturopaths in Maine are rallying behind a bill designed to prevent insurers from discriminating against health care providers who are licensed by the state.  Sen. Justin Chenette, a Saco Democrat, submitted the bill on behalf of the Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors [...] the bill will go before the Legislature’s Committee on Insurance and Financial Services on Thursday "; 

lobbying for a special interest group that is fundamentally based upon deceptions. For lawmakers to push this stuff, and for insurers to cover such, is to become a party to such.

"naturopathy’s an alternative medical system that focuses on diet, herbs and vitamins instead of pharmaceuticals [...]";

let me show you something in Maine that belies that characterization: a naturopath that uses pharmaceuticals not INSTEAD but ALONG WITH. 

002. in "Naturopathic Medicine" [2017 archived], Maine NDs Moskowitz and MacDonald list their practice's therapies including:

"pharmaceutical medicine is the use of prescription and/or over-the-counter medications to treat illnesses. Early pharmaceutical medicines were commonly derived from natural substances, like plants, whereas many newer medications are derived in a laboratory setting to create novel drugs. Pharmaceutical medications require animal and human research studies prior to approval by the Food and Drug Administration."

and they even have a "pharmacy manager."  What are we being taken for by AP, idiots?  The naturopathic MO is to pretend to be one specific thing, but truly they are a BLEND.  And that is their ultimate misrepresentation.
