Who Watches the Watchers? Wisconsin’s New ND Board Members

here, how to game the system:

001. Heather Poltrock writes at weau.com in “Gov. Evers announcesappointments to newly established Naturopathic Medicine Examining Board”:

"Gov. Tony Evers has appointed seven people to the Naturopathic Medicine Examining Board [...which] regulates the practice of naturopathic medicine. The board was recently established under 2021 Wisconsin Act 130 [...] said Gov. Evers 'I am confident in this board and these members’ ability to lead on initiatives that help support positive outcomes for patients, naturopathic doctors, and the field of naturopathic medicine across our state’ [...]";

so, if mainly this sounds like 'for naturopathy', I'd agree.

"the board is comprised of four licensed naturopathic doctors, one licensed primary care physician, and two public members, each appointed to staggered four-year terms. Members of the Naturopathic Medicine Examining Board include: Dr. Allison Becker of Evansville, naturopathic doctor [...] Dr. Robert Coleman of Fond du Lac, Naturopathic Doctor – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2023; Dr. Jill Crista of Janesville, Naturopathic Doctor – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2024; Robyn Doege-Brennan of Janesville, Public Member – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2023; Dr. David Kiefer of Madison, Primary Care Physician – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2025; Kristine Nichols of Whitewater, Public Member – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2024; Dr. Paul Ratté of Viroqua, Naturopathic Doctor – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2023."

let's take a look at them.

002. each ND member's site:

002.a. ND Becker:

002.a1. is an NUNM 2005 ND grad;

002.a2. whose definition of naturopathy page:

002.a2.i. codes naturopathy’s central vitalism premise as:

“6 principles of naturopathic medicine […] 3. the healing power of nature: I will use natural medicines to stimulate your own body's ability to heal itself";

and as I often say, that's all you get.

002.a2.ii. as compared to her alma mater NUNM which states :

“naturopathic principles of healing. The practice of naturopathic medicine emerges from six principles of healing. These principles are based on the objective observation of the nature of health and disease and are examined continually in light of scientific analysis [...]";

a science rigor claim for naturopathy's core concepts.

"these principles stand as the distinguishing marks of the profession. The healing power of naturevis medicatrix naturae. The body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. The healing process is ordered and intelligent; nature heals through the response of the life force. The physician’s role is to facilitate and augment this process [...];

so not only is the vitalism hidden by the ND overseer, the nonsensical science-claim upon the science ejected is, too.  That which does not stand up to close examination! So, who watches the watchers?  Ah, the foxes and the henhouses… And this is typical as the decades have demonstrated.

002.b. ND Coleman:

002.b1. is a Bastyr ND grad; and the head of the state association;

002.b2. and his practice pages similarly code naturopathy's vitalism premise and claim science broadly;

002.c. ND Crista is an NUNM grad;

002.d. ND Ratté is an NUNM grad;

002.d1. and his practice page also codes naturopathy's essential vitalism while claiming science;

003. their State association site states that naturopathy is a science and of course codes that fundamental vitalism premise while listing a bunch of quackery.

same as it ever was, same as it ever was...Again, I have to ask, who watches the watchers?
