Naturopathy's Essential Cultic Vitalism, NDNR 2009-09 - Co-Author Loomis, M. (ND NCNM) & Publisher Talman, D. (ND SCNM):

the current issue of Naturopathic Doctor News and Review [NDNR] has two interesting statements regarding naturopathy's essential vitalism [a science-ejected concept]:

001. the NDNR article "Nurturing the Child's Well-Being [...]" (Vol. 5, Issue 9) by Loomis, M. (ND NCNM) and Luvmour, J. (PhD ?) states:

"the organizing principle [OP]. There is an organizing principle in each stage of childhood [...] the organizing principle is a life force [vitalism] that determines the general ways in which human energy, capabilities, inclinations, and interactions are structured and act. The goal of each organizing principle [p.001] is optimal wellness [p.004]."

Note: so we have OP = LF.

002. in this same issue, NDNR publisher Tallman, D. (ND SCNM) states:

"the axiom 'the faith of a child' has its place in medicine as physicians rely on faith in the vis [vitalism] while making therapeutic decisions [...] physicians [should] understand and have child-like faith in the vis [p.003]."

003. I don't know about you, but I don't believe that a supposed physician [ND] should be approaching a supposedly fundamental premise of a supposed profession with the mentality of a child:

Vitalism -- naturopathy's vis medicatrix naturae / life force: some call it faith, some call it belief - I call it ignorance. Naturopathy mainly calls it a scientific fact, which it isn't.

I caution: overall, to take one's mentality into such an credulous realm resembles the thought-control of so many cults, which infantilize and subjugate call critical thought.

This is thought reform, and it is pernicious.

Homeopathy as 'Natural, Life-Force Based, Effective, Rational, Evidence-Based, Remarkable, Scientific Method' - Dodds, C. (ND Bastyr):

001. Dodds, C. (ND Bastyr 1993) states in "Homeopathy: A Time-tested Medicine For Today":

"homeopathy is a system of natural medicine [...wherein] health is a state of equilibrium maintained by a life force or essence [{LF, E}...when] the life force becomes disturbed [...it] expresses its imbalance in the form of symptoms [...which are] the outer expression of this inner state of [its] disturbance or disease [...] the role of homeopathy is to stimulate the life force [...] as the life force is restored to balance, the symptoms recede and the individual returns to a state of health [...] in 1810 Dr. Hahnemann [homeo.'s founder] published the 1st edition of the [homeo. bible] 'Organon of Medicine' [...] in it he outlined the principles of the art and science of healing [...homeo. is] an evidence-based system [...] and a reliable method of assessment and treatment [...its] a rational philosophy of healing and a scientific method of treatment."

Note: so, LF=E. We are promised by ND Dodds:

"Dr. Cam Dodds is a licensed naturopathic physician with a focus in classical homeopathy. Homeopathy is a remarkable method of natural medicine effective in stimulating healing and restoring health."

b. and in "About Homeopathy":

"homeopathy is a safe, gentle, and effective method of treatment for both acute and chronic illness."

002. meanwhile, overall:

there is NO SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT for either a life force, or homeopathy's efficacy.

Paul Davies (PhD{physics} UCL) writes in "Cosmic Jackpot: Why Our Universe is Just Right for Life"((ISBN 0618592261; 2007):

"two hundred years ago, many scientists were content to treat life as a fundamental phenomenon because they believed that some sort of life force or vital essence was responsible for the remarkable qualities that living organisms display [...] today we know that there is no life force. Living organisms are machines, and they derive their extraordinary qualities from their great complexity. What makes life special is not the stuff of which it is made, but the things it does [p.224]."

Naturopathy's Essential Vitalism Secticity - UBCNM SGA 1999, the ND Oath:

an excerpt from my UBCNM 1998-2002 archives concerning naturopathy's essential science-ejected vitalism premise -- the primary sectic belief of naturopathy's sectic belief system -- as taught and required at AANMC naturopathic colleges and university programs [see 001. below]; and a UBCNM web page that directly equates naturopathy's "life force" with naturopathy's "healing power of nature" [HPN; see 002. below]; and a Canadian ND who demonstrates, through naturopathy's official oath [see 003. below]: a) naturopathy's obligation to HPN / vitalism; b) naturopathy's false label of "science" they -- by oath -- place upon 'the naturopathic principles;' c) the wacko idea that this lie of 'naturopathy's scientific vitalism premise' is 'from a position of integrity and without prejudice, serving humanity' while the a priori, dogmatic belief called vitalism is itself a sectic nonscientific prejudice falsely postured as scientific and of the 'without prejudice' / nonsectarian:

001. the secretary of the UBCNM student government writes in "Naturopathic Student Government Meeting Minutes" {1999-08-24}:

"vitalism club [...] the vitalism club will have meetings to discuss and explore the life force which is a part of us all. Dr. Sensenig, N.D. will be advising";

Note: Sensenig was the founding dean of the college, and the founding president of the AANP.

002. UBCNM states in "Guiding Principle #1":

"the healing power of nature, vis medicatrix naturae: the body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. The healing process is ordered and intelligent; nature heals through the response of the life force. The physician's role is to facilitate and augment this process";

003. the naturopathic oath obligates one to such vitalism, per "Naturopathic Physician's Oath" hosted by CNPBC ND Seth-Smith, P. (ND ?) :

"I dedicate myself to the service of humanity as a practitioner of the art and science [yikes!!!] of naturopathic medicine [...] I will conduct my life and practice of naturopathic medicine with integrity and freedom from prejudice [!!!...] I will honor the principles of naturopathic medicine [...including] to cooperate with the healing powers of nature [life force!!!...] with my whole heart, before these witnesses, as a doctor of naturopathic medicine, I pledge to remain true to this oath";

The Absurdity of an ND Degree - UBCNM 2008:

a little knowledge about the 'categorical science label' placed upon naturopathy by the University of Bridgeport [01 below], the actual content of their ND program [its essential vitalism; 02 below], and what science legitimately says concerning that content [vitalism is in no way within science; modern science in fact rejects vitalism as an explanatory mode; 03 below] reveals quite an absurdity -- to the extent that one is struck by its full-blown nonintelligence [04 below]:

Note: the claim is that the practice of naturopathy is scientific -- naturopathy is what naturopaths do / practice, therein labeled "scientific."

The healing process is ordered and intelligent; nature heals through the response of the life force."

Note: a "life force" is outright vitalism, the core / primary naturopathic principle.

03. what science says about vitalism, one example:

quoting Alan Sokal, PhD:

"nearly all the pseudoscientific systems to be examined in this essay are based philosophically on vitalism [...] mainstream science has rejected vitalism since at least the 1930s, for a plethora of good reasons that have only become stronger with time" (from ISBN 0415305926; 2006).

04. the huge absurdity:

labeling what is not science as science. Something is not the same as something it is vastly different from, and excluded from -- duh. An ND degree is a regionally accredited, States and Federal Government sanctioned subterfuge.
